If there’s one thing I remember most from my final days as a Software Engineering student, it’s our nightly routine with the team on DiscordCompleting a Capstone Project isn’t just a chance to show off your coding skills. It’s a real-world test of time management, communication, and keeping the team sane. On this Empowr web app development project, I took on a dual role: as both Project Leader and Scrum Master, while also getting my hands dirty implementing the front-end using Tailwind CSS.It sounds cool on paper, but the reality was pretty mind-boggling.Expectations vs. Reality in Every SprintAs a Scrum Master, my job was to ensure every team member knew what needed to be done and that no blockers were hindering progress. We followed a sprint cycle, and of course, not every sprint went smoothly. Sometimes a feature estimated to take two days ended up taking a week due to integration issues or hard-to-track bugs.On the other hand, as a developer, I also have to focus on refining Empowr’s user interface. Dealing with classes in Tailwind CSS to ensure the UI/UX is responsive and user-friendly turns out to take a lot of time and iterations. Switching context between managing people and writing code is my biggest challenge on this project.It’s Not Just About the CodeOne thing I’ve learned: IT projects are 80% communication and 20% technical. Debates over architecture, disagreements during c
